F.A.Q. about me (questions that you might want to know)

If I am a web developer, why is this site so plain?

  1. Because I never get around "finishing" the site. Too many plans, but no action. I need to get started and I need to take one small first step.
  2. Because I am too lazy to "blog" with WordPress (which is a fine blogging tool) and plan a beautiful portfolio site. I already used twitter, flickr and all those "Web 2.0/Social Networking/Ajax" tools, and after reading Jeffrey Zeldman's article on "The vanishing personal site", I realised all I need for my personal site is nothing more than information that I already invested in other places. No duplication, keep it simple: just the way I like it.

Which area of web development am I in?

  1. Web standards stuff

I like to hand-code my HTML and CSS, enjoys debugging CSS browser issues until I have to fix CSS for IE6 (and/or below). I am pretty good with JavaScript, and currently Prototype is my favourite JavaScript library.

While at work (Windows environment), my primary coding tool is Dreamweaver CS3. At home, I use a MacBook Pro (notice how I refer to my Mac by the machine name?) with Coda from Panic software.

I use Firefox with Firebug to debug CSS and JavaScript issues, and I thanked these tools from keeping my sanity.

  2. Multimedia stuff

My major in uni was Interactive Multimedia, so I have dabbled in all kinds of stuff including audio, video and 3D animation. With that training, I have also been interested in Flash and what it can do that HTML/CSS/JavaScript can't. I have created audio and video players, interactive activities and Rich Internet Applications in Flash using ActionScript 2. Now I am interested in what we can create using Flex, ActionScript 3 and AIR in the future, just look at Adobe Photoshop Express, how can you not get excited?

  3. Currently employed as...

A senior online developer in a training/education company. I work with 4 other mid-level online developers, guiding them to become web standards geeks and leading them astray with my Windows-rant and Mac-loving attitude.
